Pharmacy Coordinator

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Pharmacy Coordinator to join our team. As a Pharmacy Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our pharmacy services. You will be responsible for coordinating pharmacy benefits, managing medication authorizations, and providing exceptional customer service to our members and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities:

1. Pharmacy Benefit Coordination:

• Coordinate pharmacy benefits for members, including verifying eligibility, coverage, and formulary information.

• Collaborate with pharmacy benefit managers and network pharmacies to ensure accurate and timely processing of prescription claims.

• Monitor and resolve any issues related to pharmacy benefits, such as prior authorizations, step therapy, and quantity limits.

• Stay updated on the latest pharmacy guidelines, drug formularies, and industry regulations.

2. Medication Authorization Management:

• Review and process medication authorization requests from healthcare providers, ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines and formulary restrictions.

• Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain additional information or clarification when necessary.

• Maintain accurate records of medication authorizations and communicate approval or denial decisions to healthcare providers and members.

3. Customer Service:

• Provide exceptional customer service to members and healthcare providers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience.

• Educate members on pharmacy benefits, medication coverage, and cost-saving opportunities.

• Collaborate with internal teams, such as customer service and claims, to resolve any pharmacy-related issues or concerns.

4. Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Analyze pharmacy utilization data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and potential areas for improvement.

• Prepare regular reports on pharmacy utilization, cost trends, and medication adherence.

• Collaborate with the pharmacy team to develop strategies for optimizing pharmacy services and improving health outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Best candidate would be a pharmacist with MA-PD health plan and/or PBM clinical and operations experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (PharmD preferred).

• Current pharmacy technician license or certification is a plus.

• Strong knowledge of pharmacy benefit management, formulary management, and medication authorization processes.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

• Proficiency in using pharmacy management software and other relevant tools.

• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
